October Inspiration

September is over, October has arrived and we are officially in Autumn weather here in Victoria!  This time of year is my favourite season (but I also really love summer…it’s a close tie).  This is just a quick photo post to show you all what’s keeping me educationally inspired as this new season takes charge!

My cute little cousin in Germany (she's in grade 3) wishes I could be her teacher, but we have a slight geographical issue...I plan to help "teach her" from afar using these English sight cards (I'll add the German translations). I hope to help inspire her writing by becoming snail mail pen pals with her.

I found these Canadian French/English flash cards for $3. I plan to laminate these cards and create some kind of vocab game for my grade 8s. Isn't that Canada Post mailbox adorable?

Meaghan and I text about 47 messages a day to each other (not even kidding). This one was from this week...discussing our challenges and boosting each other up, because that's what friends are for. Thanks for keeping me inspired, Meg!

Found this giant Mad Libs book at Michaels last week. I plan to use this for various advisory activities with my new grade 8s. Gotta love a good round of Mad Libs!

After being in hiding for three years, my second most useful/favourite book from my B.Ed decided to make an appearance...brilliant timing too! There are some topnotch formative assessments (in Black Line Master form) in this book. Best $25 I spent three years ago!

Yesterday I ran my fastest 5k ever. Maybe this isn't fast for some of you, but I was proud of it! Must be my new lulu running shirt that made me speedier than usual. Note: post run snuggles with Franklin, feet up on the couch...happens after every run.

And finally...my biggest pride and joy as of late: Teacher Day Book. I've been longing to create a real teacher day book since I finished my final practicum a year and a half ago. Whipped up my 2013/2014 version last week...now I just need my job to start!

Happy almost weekend everyone!
